| Brew group cleaning |
 The brew grouo brush is an essential accessory for cleaning of the brew group.With the brew group brush you can easily remove the coffee residue from the brew group. Not least from the brew group gasket where it could jam coffee residue that could effect that your filter does not seal tightly against the brew group gasket. |
| Backflushing |
  Like the more advanced machines, Rancilio Silvia has a solenoid valve to release pressure after brewing. Excess water is transported through the solenoid valve into the drip tray. The fact that there is a solenoid valve you can clean the brew group of coffee residue by backflushing.For backflushing, you need a blind filter and cleaner Puly Caff Plus 900. You backflush approximately 8-12 times a year. Pour a teaspoon of Puly Caff Plus 900 of the blind filter. Attach the filter holder with blind filter in the brewing group. Press the button for the brewing of coffee, wait about 10 seconds (listen to the machine, it must not "suffer" too long) before pushing off. Repeat this procedure about 20 times. | Depuratore - an effecient way of avoiding decalcification |
A good way to avoid decalcification is to use a so-called "depuratore", a water filter, at the water hose. You attach the water filter on the long hose in the tank, i.e. the hose that sucks up water in the boiler. Water filter minimizes the risk of calcium deposits in boilers and pipes. Limescale leads sooner or later to your machine unusable why this must be handled carefully.
You should change the water filter approximately 4-8 times per year, slightly depending on how lime-rich the water is where you live. |
| Descaling |
 Was it long ago since you descaled your Rancilio Silvia? And you do not use "depuratore"? Then you need to descale your machine!Puly Cleaner Baby is an excellent cleaner for boilers and pipes, it comes in individual portions so it is easy to dose. Fill water tank with 1,5 liter of water and pour in a bag Puly Cleaner Baby. Start the machine and run the water out of the tank contents through brewing and steam pipes. In this way, the cleaning fluid gets in contact with the boiler and pipes in the machine. Allow the machine to stand for 15 minutes. Then fill the water tank with fresh clean water and rinse through steam and brewing group carefully by at least 2 liters of water. |
| Cleaning of filter and filter holder |
